When I read the Gospels I can’t help but notice a significant disconnect between the life of Jesus and widespread Church practice. Jesus told a woman to spread the Good News of His resurrection, but we won’t let a woman preach it from the pulpit.
I didn’t go to church today. I didn’t go to church because…my church is still asking “what should women be allowed to do?”
In case you missed it, some heated conversation took place in the evangelical “blogosphere” and news media this week.
In the end, you see, it’s not about effectiveness, although adding women to your church board will certainly have an impact on that. It’s about justice and about righting what is wrong in this world. It’s about faithfulness – being faithful to the ethic and value system of the Kingdom of God.
