I am a part of a Christian tradition that has ordained women as elders since its inception during the American Holiness movement in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The first church in which I ever served as a pastor was founded by a female circuit rider who planted churches across west Texas and southeastern […]
In recent years I have been struck by how feminine communion is At the Last Supper Jesus says, “This is my body broken for you” & “This is my blood shed for you” and all of it is to bring about new life. How similar to what a mother can say to the baby she just […]
In this process of learning to preach it has been important to me to hear what other women preachers have to say. I’m sure that at some point I will read some more traditional books on the subject, but right now I’m hungry to hear the experiences of women. Here are some resources that have been helpful on the journey.

Being a Christian egalitarian can be lonely at times. The CBE Conference is a great opportunity to build your support network of like-minded believers. Last week on the CBE blog Naomi Krueger shared 5 reasons to attend the CBE Conference in Los Angeles this month. Her observations are spot on and we wanted to share them with you. We’ve added 1 reason of our own and made some suggestions for extra things to do around Los Angeles while you’re here. If you haven’t decided yet whether or not to come, it’s not too late!
Welcome back to Summer Links! Here are a few of our favorite things from the last few weeks:
1. Marg Mowczko’s “In a Nutshell” series
If you aren’t aware of Marg Mowczko, here is your introduction (you’re welcome). Marg is a fantastic theologian from Australia, whose online articles should be compiled into an egalitarian encyclopedia. In addition to her in depth theological work (which is available in Spanish and Urdu), she has written a series of short posts that get right to the heart of egalitarian issues. Check out these “In a Nutshell” posts!
